Somber Place & Great Meal
Went to Rimini, Italy which is about 45 min south of Ravenna and an hour south-east of Bologna with some friends to visit a allied nations WWII cemetary. My buddy's Great Uncle was buried there and no one in his family had ever visited the gravesite. The grounds were immaculate, set on a small ridge and it was a very fitting enviroment for these young men that fought so hard over here to rest. After that we went to a small family owned restaruant named Amami Alfredo, and had the best meal ever. Crostini with cheese, pate, spinich and drizzled with 20 year old Balsamic Vineger for the antipasta course, House Red Wine, raviloli stuffed with prosccuitto, parma cheese, and pine nuts for the primo course and then for the secundi a mixed grill plate of local game. Coffee and a small mixed plate of desserts and all of us were ready to be rolled out of the place..... plus we were eating, socilalizing, relaxing for 2 hours plus and no one hovering over our table trying to get us gone and another group in.
Walked off lunch (for me dinner too) in Ravenna, a very old city with mosiacs over 1500 years old and Dante's Tomb... some Gelato and then teh drive home. Will be posting pics over on our website www.thefairyandturtle.com soon.
Take Care,
Robert
P.S. the spell checker on this page is on the fritz and my online time dwindling fast... sorry for the spelling mistakes....
